A week or so ago I found it interesting that both my brother in law and my son sent me this on the same day. It was posted on Facebook I think. They copied the picture off and sent it as a texted, stating this is what it’s like fishing with me. But they stated, when they’re not biting I somehow end up catching fish. Even if you’re sitting in the same boat with me and you haven’t caught anything.

When most have given up it’s not in my blood to give up. Just wondered were there others or is it just me.
I hope the picture attaches because this want make any sense without it.

Everyone knows when they go fishing with me don’t have any plans other than fishing or bring your own vehicle so I can go drop you off. I have a very understanding wife of 46 years of marriage. I guess you could say I love to fish like she likes to window shop. It’s an all day affair!
If you guys or gals don’t know what window shopping is, she can go look at stuff all day and never purchase anything. I like that not purchasing anything!

As a kid before turning thirteen I spent most days from daybreak till dusk fishing. I fished ponds and creeks. Back then I fished for everything, didn’t matter. If it bit and pulled that’s all I had to have. That’s where I got my nick name for here. There was an old pond across the road from
My Dad’s place that was full of what they called silver roach large minnows. I would spend entire days catching thousands of those things on bread and crickets and worms. At thirteen I was driving and working for all the farmers in the area and my Dad carpentering. Where did those days go!!!!

The fish don’t have to bite though it much more exciting when they do. Like I tell everyone you can’t catch them on the couch, in the shop, in the truck or anywhere other than on the water. But I will ask, if you are sitting around at home do you get hungry? Most will admit it they do. Well my answer is so do crappie. If you ain’t there when they want to snack or out and out eat, you ain’t going to catch them.

Most fish for a hobby, a get away, or whatever. But I do it because I love it. I tell others it is the only thing that I can go do that I think of nothing but me and the fish and all Gods creation.

So I will in this post ask, do you love it? Because that’s what it takes to get consistent catching crappie.

I do enjoy it and remember the good times with my dad fishing together. I will admit though, the busier I get with life the harder it seems to slow down and enjoy time on the water. My mind wanders and I constantly thing of everything that needs doing. I need to clear my head and focus on the fishing, that's when they seem to bite the best.

If we are ever going to fish together you will need to retire since I only fish during the week. I like to fish too, some like to fish for a couple of hours but I'm out for the majority of the day too. No daylight stuff, that's for rookies.

I enjoy all day adventures for the love of fishing AND the fact that lakes that hold quality fish size wise are no less than 2 hours away in every direction from where we live. Oftentimes we get a place to stay and make it a 2-3 day excursion.

Well I look forward to that day as I could use some new techniques or training. But just know I am old enough that I get paid for my knowledge. I don’t have to report to an office or job site anymore. So I still fish a lot during the week as well especially when we are slow or all jobs are filled with no room
To take on more work. Slow is November to end of January.
Very rarely am I not flexible enough to go. I am simply ethical enough I don’t take advantage of my employer. That’s what makes it so hard to go ahead and retire.
