Default Fish are Biting Aggressive After Deep Freeze

Fished for 6 hours today in Jourdan river boating a pile of Crappie. Almost every one needed long nose pliers to remove the jig. Red Thunder BGBS with a Chrome jighead just delivered. I had some nice ones rise up to beat the shorts to the jig. Fun Times. Walmart here was closing out these coolers, 38 quarts I think. Anyway I didn't both with ice till I got home but just holding the bait still at 12-14ft deep over structure got numerous hookups. I was doing my 2 poles at a time and twice as I was unhooking a fish off one pole a Crappie hit the other pole laying on the deck. Not a lot of rocket science today just fish the deep structure with your jig motionless. 3 shorts are in the cooler that were bleeding bad after the hook removal. I would rather clean them and test my grease with the little fillets then just let the fish die. The cook has to have a snack while frying them up right!

Gotta love launching 1/4 mile from the house and not planing the boat off before hooking the first one.

Nice find on the cooler. I’d love to get a good one sometime. Sounds like a fun day. Wonder what wonderful good eats those will become?

Nice mess of crappie. The plated jigs work here as well, always have some in my tackle bag.

Good lookin box of fish. I love spending the day and not burning a pint of gas. Easier for me with a 25 horse but I get it. Lethargic winter fish can be easy sometimes when they go deep like that. Standing timber and brush piles are good fun.

Great post. We had the same reactions from deep crappie yesterday on Lacombe. Very aggressive on pretty much motionless baits. Seems like they are feeding heavily before getting ready to move up.
