    Default Fish in schools?

On one of the lakes that I fish in Ga all the crappie are still in schools.
They have already came off brush and headed to the spawning grounds and usually by now they have already started breaking up.
Water temperature is normally what it is this time of year so I’m just wondering why they’re doing this.
    Never experienced this before
    Any ideas?

We are still in January, I don't know what your water temperature is, ours is 48,will need to increase and stay above 50*,and then a full moon will get them in.

Which lake here in Ga. are you on? I'm on Jackson water temp 44 and fish are moving back midway in the coves. Not because of water temp but increase in daylight are signaling them time is coming. Moon also plays a big factor over and above the water temp as mentioned. There are still a lot of schools here but most of the fish I'm targeting are super shallow in the water colom although there are fish deep too, I just don't target those as It tales too long for jig to fall. Caught about 20 in 1 1/2 hours most 1-4' deep with the most concenttations being in 15-18' water. Scott

I was referring to Jackson also
    I don’t scope, I longline troll
I fished Sunday and caught 1 crappie
I did see a lot of fish way up in the water column but I am also seeing a lot of fish in schools in some of the pockets and I’ve been fishing Jackson for a long time and usually when they have started going in the coves they are spread out and not still in schools
I think I’m going tomorrow, hoping the water temp has come up and the trolling bite will be better
