1/15/2025 Post Major Rain Event and Cold Snap on Bayou Lacombe

Waited for the sun to warm up everything and launched at 11 at Main St. Bayou Lacombe water was muddy, full of floating leaves and grass and the water temp was 48 F. The purpose to the trip was to check out my electronics after disconnecting all my buses to clean them and regrease them. I also wanted to see if the inductance from having my trolling wires installed along side of all my other wires was bad enough to warrant rewiring my trolling motor along the Port side of the hull. Fortunately I saw no voltage drop due to inductance. Redoing my bus's restored my voltage on all my electronics back to more than 12.8 volts. Before cleaning terminals I had 12.1 volt on a couple of screens. I ordered new bus's that had bolts and nuts instead of those rabbit ears that you slip the connector on to ensure I have the best voltage getting to my electronics.


Once I checked out the electronics I hit a few spots and I caught 1 here and 1 there. Ended up keeping 8 all over 9 inches and I had a 12" and a 14" hog!! I had it on the trailer by 2:30 and home by 3:00.
The parking lot was empty probably due to the cold weather and the muddy water conditions.

Lacombe is one of my favorite places, especially in the Fall / Winter. You can catch slab crappie, load the boat down with marsh bass, turn around to catch specks at the lake or shoot a limit of ducks on Big Branch.
