Summer time fishing while not the most comfortable because of the heat is often the best bite of the year since water is warmer and fish activity is the highest. They have to eat to survive when it's hot. The rest of the year while you may be more comfortable fish are more selective and more of a challenge. But I'm going to still be out there trying to figure out the pattern for the day all 12 months of the year.

Cold blooded critters metabolic rates go to the moon during the warm season, this is fact . This in turn causes non stop feeding in many cases with some of the cold blooded critters out there .
Hence the all the time feeding patterns we see with crappie in the summer months in lots of spots , feeding activity might go up and down due to lighting and or lack of , but they tend to remain ready for the next opportunity most of the summer :highfive

Being one that experiments with lure shapes and actions, feeding as the reason for strikes of specific lure shapes and actions doesn't enter into the equation. Granted, fish are cold blooded but so are most divorce attorneys. Key is finding how to beat them based on facts: fish location(s) #1 and then everything related to the lures chosen, noting which combos catch fish consistentely on any given day.
Sonar doesn't guarentee strikes based on numbers of fish detected, but the sheer presence of many fish suggests that a few idiots in the school or on the fringes of it will take a swing more or less regardless of location. Since heavy rains passed through yesterday and an impending cold front will lower water temperature in the near future, more fish will (for whatever reason) become more irritable and aggressive resulting in heavy action/ strikes. Fronts seem to have a significant affect on fish senses no matter the season, just like my wife has a significant affect on me - no matter the reason, except hers are not front-related. (Good thing she doesn't visit this forum nor have any idea who Spoonminnow is!)
In summation, as anglers we enjoy increases in impulsive/ aggresive behavior (though not so much from people we live with. :banghead Go figure...)
