TIP of the week

can't believe there are threads on here discussing reels or rods costing couple hundred bucks when we are talking about ketchn panfish, yet I don't see any of those dudes posting pictures of their crappie ketch's. I ketch a lot of crappie and when folks ask me what is biggest criteria for me I simply say has to be ON Sale and a decent brand. Have a lot of Presidents, Shimano's low end reels which all work just fine. On BnM or Bass pro Rods which are on clearance.

Do have one St croix UL rod with high end shimano reel only because my crappie guru buddy was selling out his stuff. Don't use it much as I prefer my Sam Heaton SS 7 footer from BnM I caught on a clearance with a fairly pricey Shimano 1000 reel only because got it for half price from buddy. Plus another rod with shimano reel 6 foot UL that someone left at my house. As the Outlaw says you don't have to spend a lot to feel that KABOOM!

gave one to my bud H and he ALWAYS uses garage sale wore out stuff ....

My dad had a couple real nice rods when he was still here. Being the only surviving son when he passed, I figured I would get it. I was over seas at the time doing the military thing, and I sure don't know what happened to them, but when I got home, they weren't around no where. Mom said all that stuff was in the garage, and said it was mine for the getting. But, alas not to be found. The most expensive rod I own, I actually won in a giveaway right here on C.C, a BnM TCB rod. I paired it with a President size 20 reel. I have a few BnM rods ranging from 12', 10', and 7', but the ones I grab the most are Shakespeare micro light series rods from wally world for $20 comes in 5'6" and 7". one day I'll put together a dream rod, make it my self.But for now, these work just great.

by golly in looking at a couple of rods I havn't used in long time I have one of those soulagongy? tiny reels. heading out today so I;m gonna have to put it in the car and give it a go.

High end equipment don't catch fish- high end fishermen do! About $50-60 is my limit for either a rod or reel.

a right killer combo can be set up for around 50 bucks and pretty good one for about 30 and the cheapest out combo at about 15
it aint what your holding in your hand for sure , my pappy and his bud used to cut big sticks and use cotton line and grasshoppers and ketch fish big time .....facts
