Just sold off the canoes. Had a couple of Old Town Guide Series 14 footers. They were stable enough to stand in and paddle. Definitely paddled easy as well. With a kayak paddle I could cover some water. Indians, trappers and Frontiersmen certainly swore by canoes
TOO OLD FOR EITHER ONE.
I have owned and fished out of all three. For overall versatility fishing wise make mine a solo canoe. Easy to handle, easy to get in and out of, quiet, can handle a variety of water, can be configured to handle any kind of fishing that I ever want to do, good capacity for man and gear. I don't use motors or electronics of any kind so I wouldn't miss that aspect of a motorized jon boat. I don't consider a sit on top plastic float a kayak and a real sit in kayak is limited in space.

Solo or tandem?
trolling motor or paddle?
water type?
trailer, truck bed or car top?
road side launch or boat launch?
Both can be amazing for fishing but the wrong one for the application and you won’t enjoy it. Give us as much info as possible and everyone can give you much better advice.
With options of trolling motors for each, if you’re looking to go that route, l have a nephew who fishes professionally on the kayak Bassmasters and other kayak circuits and those kayaks are sit on type with trolling motor and anchor poles, electronics, rod holders, tackle storage etc. I have seen videos of them fishing big rough waters on windy days that l would never attempt but they didn’t turnover. He’s a big guy and uses a Bonafide 127 model kayak.

If I was going to choose it would be a Kayak…so many options out there it’s mind boggling. I can’t use my shoulders like that anymore and neither can my bride so it’s our boat until we can’t safely use it anymore.
