Ram mount

Me console was not adequately strong. I made this bracket from .250 aluminum. Worked out well. Very ridged now.Attachment 450268Attachment 450269

I take my large units off when traveling down the road! I don’t want to stop for something and come back to find it gone!

I also have a Ram swing arm mount, mounted to my Tracker console.

My 1222 rides on it when I put my livescope in the water. I did it this way so my buddy can see the screen as well from the back of the boat.

I have a 1" RAM mount on my consol with a 9" garmin. Never had any issues. It's plenty stable.

My Excel has a regular D sized ram mount with a 10 inch Helix on it and it stays solid.

I install my units while preparing my boat to launch. They get stored back in a storage case once I come off the water. I never saw a need for them to be installed while traveling. I don't want to have to worry about them when stop to get snacks/ice.

I dont know how easy Garmins are to remove for the road trip. I have a HB 9" graph that rides in the truck seat beside me and is stored in the house between trips. It's mounted on a 2" ball ram mount and doesnt move a bit when I tighten it down where I want it to be.

On second thought....mine could be a 2 & 1/4" ball. Size D.

When I am traveling long distances I take my graphs off. I am planning on ordering some locks for my graphs though but will still take em off for the highway

I had ram mounts bow and console. Had big time problems with both. Cornfield crappie mounts solved my problem.

Garmins are very easy to remove. At least the newer ones. They have a cradle and the just pop in and out. Wiring stays connected to the cradle. My graphs NEVER travel down the road on the boat.

If you can reach under the console good enough, I would try and re-enforce it with a large piece of cutting board material from below and run screws thru both materials. That should take care of any worries you have. :twocents
