I have been lured into the crappie fishing world for just a few years after mostly trout fishing for 50! I was just wondering from all you veteran slab hunters, how often do you change styles of fishing when they don't bite?
I have trolled cranks, long lined jigs, shot a few docks, and single poled both jigs and minnows. At my age, trolling is less work, but getting hung up is a bear and sometimes takes longer to produce.

My question is- How often during a single trip do you change to a different method when the bite is slow? For example- Do you keep grinding it out on brush piles, or change to dock shooting when they are timid? Do you give it a certain amount of time? Change depths or part of the lake? I know you need to fish where the fish are mostly concentrated, but how long do you give it before you change tactics?
I'm just looking to get the most productivity out of my trips. All methods I've tried have worked somewhat but like Kenny Rogers said-"you gotta know when to Hold'em, know when to Fold'em" Any suggestions. I fish mostly reservoirs with coves and average depths of 15-40 feet deep. Thanks for suggestions folks.
