Don't have any experience with Gapen Rods or their company.
I knew of Dan Gapen as a legendary smallmouth fisherman and inventor of the Ugly Bug jig. He was a contributor to Fishing Facts magazine back in the 1970s, which I subscribed to for over a decade in my formative fishing years. I learned a lot and still draw from the wisdom and experience he shared in print. Checking his company's website reveals that Dan passed last Fall. Thanks to him for the enlightenment and helping a young fisherman like me put some of pieces of the puzzle to good fishing together.
