Default How deep is it ?

So my buddy and I had an in depth ( all day ) conversation about the depth of items shown on the garmin. Transducer mounted on TM. So if it shows fish at 10 are they 10 or are you adding the length of TM shaft. Can’t get him to understand the “signal” is sent back to the transducer not the head unit. He ain’t graspin things here.

Yep, add the distance from the surface of the water to the transducer. Lowrance has a setting to do this automatically, called "transducer offset"

Appreciate the answer. My buddy had a stroke a year and half ago and sometimes I have to be really careful trying to explain things. He wanted me to ask here for the “ correct “ answer. Sometimes he is way out there and sometimes not.

compensation for locations on the sending unit is a bit important, we run 2 regular graphs side by side and one transducer is slightly tilted, and it typically shows the water depth to be about 2 feet deeper than the other.

Objects are 10' below the transducer. So if the transducer is 2' below the surface the object is 12' below the surface.
