And even if it was dead calm when I got there, as soon as I started :fish it would no longer be that way. since last August or so I have had the same experiences. My fishing days for the present are limited to mostly just weekends. Having never been much of a cold weather person, I had thought that winter would be a total no for me. But it seems I was wrong. My best outings have been on cold windy days. Not so much fun fighting the wind. Finally getting into a good position and the wind changes directions. As far as what I enjoy for me, nice smooth water and just warm temps. :fish I guess the challenges are what keeps it interesting. Not everyone can be like Ketchn and catch fish in a mud hole rotfl

I stay more distant from my target in an effort to keep my inevitable noise from spooking them. I also use smaller baits/jigs so they don’t make a giant splash when it hits the water. In the winter, I’ve vertical jigged over deep water on days of absolute glass and done better than good. One day was over 3 limits in 3 1/2 hours. My point, pay attention to the details and slowly pick apart wherever you think they might be. You might be able to turn the word finesse into KABOOM!!

Thanks skeetbum, that sounds like good advice for me, to stay as far as I can from the treetops I’m fishing, scale down in size, and slow down. I’ll have to try that. ��
