The rear trolling motor set up is new to me. Never have seen a set up like this until now. I understand how a front trolling motor could scare fish.

I think the guys having the trolling motors mounted on the back are using them for BREAKS.
Chasing big roaming fish in open water.
After spotting them at 70+ feet away with front trolling motor on fast speed they feel that spinning it around will scare the fish with the prop wash.
Who knows.

it boils down to this , do you want to just target big crappie ? and or chase them ..... this is what LS is all about in most cases .
the general population isn't pro circuit and just wants to ketch lots of fish when they have time to do so, this in turns leads me right back to a cheap graph and spot lock , put me on a herd and hold me still .....this aint no tournament .....:Rofl

Yep,but they work when not chaseing them also.The green boat i posted is my buddies and i have actually fished with him some.

I think ketchn's comment is spot on. I still enjoy just catchin fish if it's an 8"er so be it. Most of mine are returned to the water anyway. Personally I think the smaller fish fry & eat better anyway. If I do hook into a 13"er I know I earned it & not chased it down. I have done my share of deer hunting & sat many long days in a stand for nothing. I dont chase my deer down in my truck. I can somewhat see a guide using it to help a client get some fish. But I have paid for my share of guides to & I know going in I'm not guaranteed I'm going to catch fish. I do it to learn different techniques & have fun.

It's fun for a while but then it gets boring to me. We fished a bridge pillar yesterday only because as I went by it (it's a no wake zone under the bridge) my SI lit up with fish. We turned around, turned on the scope to see literally hundreds of fish. Now they were in 40 FOW but with the scope we could tell they were only 7 foot down. Others on the pillars were not catching many, we assumed they were fishing too deep. We caught a bunch and it was fun for a little while but we soon got bored and went in search of better fish. Didn't find any but we tried. :bash

To me, it's OK to target bunches of average sized crappie when trying to fill the freezer but I'd rather just catch a few big ones if I'm throwing them back. That's why they make stuff for everybody... The first time I saw the trolling motors out back was when Jeff Larch won the Mr. Crappie Invitational.

Amen. I get bored catching fish. I want to seek, stalk, and catch the largest a body of water has to offer....or at least try. "Livescope is cheating/too much like a video game..." is usually from people that don't own one, and haven't spent an hour trying to get a dot bigger than the 2.40 you just caught, to eat. If I had the disposable income available, I'd have a 34 as well.

As for the brakes on the boat, I've got a short lull between tournies in August....guess what my project is going to be lol

I'm saving up for a Minn Kota with Spotlock. Live scope is not on my $$$ radar.
