thought i read they burrowed in on hair follicles ? hmmmm
more research I suppose .....:dono
They sure are some misery causing critters
They're not really "gone". If you scratch a lot they will migrate to another spot. I use Chigger-rid. Not sure if the menthol kills them or just suffocates them with the combo of the menthol and sealing properties of the solution. Either way, it works. But you have to use it for at least 2 - 3 days or they seem to resuscitate and come back to life. The Chigger-rid doesn't crack like the clear nail polish does. It's more flexible. The Chigger-rid is as much a part of our medicine cabinet as Merthiolate, Mercurochrome, and alcohol. (man, the good ol days.):Rofl
Round here they call them Red Bugs. They hang out in the Spanish Moss and every year I end up with some bites. I appreciated the remedies mentioned and have one I shall share. Hot tub. Soak in a hot tub and that kills them and steals away the itch.
I no longer own a hot tub, so next visit to the store I will be looking for some Tea Tree Oil.
Swimming pool will clear them up also.
G Sauce may get rid of those pest.
