Chaunc, I have those same snow suits, a couple hats, thermal gloves, heat packs inside your gloves, artic insulated boots. In addition, hot coffee in a thermos and chapstick are a must in those temperatures on the water. I spent over 65 of my 76 years in North East Ohio not far from Lake Erie and I know what those clippers and freezing temperatures will do to your body and to your morale. I often have been in snow storms that my 36" wide gas snow thrower refused to throw snow. The snow was just too high and too heavy. I have spent hours clearing driveways only to have the snow plows throw icy slush back in them where you literally had to get an axe and chop your way out!
I must commend you for getting out and catching fish when the weather is against you. My friend, you are so right! Prepare for the weather before you go out in it. Get the fish you want and quickly go home to your warm house, clean and fry up your meal and put some hot sauce on them.
I dont hate much , but for sure living in Pa. for 7 years and shoveling snow , made me learn to hate ......:Rofl
Golly Ketchn,
If you suited up properly for the cold weather, wouldn't you burn up half of your lunch break just putting it on and taking it off? Anyway, you got my respect for sticking it out for 45 minutes.

Funny how I never notice the cold when the fish are steadily biting, it's only the long time between bites that can be really rough! :yikes
Well I look forward to these six to eight weeks of bone jarring cold. I’m an ice fisherman also. The colder it gets, the sooner we get ice good enough to walk on. When I put my boat away, I hope to have ice within the next three to four weeks so I don’t have to sit around waiting for spring. If we were allowed to take vehicles out there it would make it much easier but they’re not permitted on the area lakes I fish. So I pull my shanty out with all the comforts I need to stay warm and enjoy myself sitting on the ice and catching fish. It’s winding down now with high temps forecasted. Putting my stuff in storage and going to get my boat ready for spring fishing. I had a great ice season this year.
