Agreed love all my Daiwa LT reels, perfect for crappie with ATD drag. Drag give out more line when fish pull harder. Legalis was the one I started with now I have Exceler LT, Fuego LT, Tatula LT, Kage LT and Ballistic FW.

Hi all. Just a quick FYI. I have been checking for quite awhile for the Daiwa Legalis LT 1000Ds to come back into stock. I saw today that FISHUSA had all BUT the 1000 in stock, and Cabelas had all the models in stock. This should be a great U/L reel - 6.5 oz with the air bail and rotor. Got my order in for the 1000 and plan on 6lb for the deep filling, and then 2 lb on top.

Those are great upgrades in reels, JB. I received my Legalis 1000 on Friday safe and sound from Cabelas. It feels great and is very smooth. It will probably get even smoother after some breaking in. It is very quiet, but then again I have to test that with my wife as I’m half deaf!Weight is 6.5oz on the nose and will balance with all my U/L rods. Can’t wait to fish with it.

Hey Ketch, I know you are a hard core Shimano fan as they have stood up to your poundings, and they are no doubt great reels. I just felt I had to try the Legalis after reading about it. Some of the high end reel features have filtered down. I don’t fish the number of days you do each year, and I fully expect the reel to be a great performer. I will get something posted in the U/L section after I have some trips with it.

my cheap Shimano (catana model i think )I got at Walmart 3 years ago on clearance has actually started to have some kind of weird issue .
sort of a binding up type of thing here and there .....just last week it happened for the first time .
neither of my 6 year old Sahara models have ever done that .....
but in the end most tackle I own don't survive a year on average. rods a bit longer sometimes if I baby them , but reels almost never .
tried Okuma reels for a while and had 2 nice ones and both gave it up pretty quickly.
of course not many folks use reels as much or as hard as me and to be sure dont abuse them in them process like me .
beating up tackle is me for sure .....![]()

Thought I’d gotten my Daiwa Legalis LT 1000 today from Cabelas , until I opened the package and found an ugly pair of Nike shoes . They weren’t even my size .
Called Cabelas and they have another order on the way , but now I’ve got to find a FedEx location and drop off the mistake.
I told the nice lady I didn’t think it was my responsibility to drop off their mistake . Didn’t work.
She told me some Dollar Generals act as FedEx pickups. Don’t want to go there either .
I also told her I missed the old Cabelas . Not that I have anything against Bass Pro , but they were two different stores and now they’re not .

Now that’s an interesting story. I wonder if someone else got a box with the smallest pair of Nikes they ever saw!I do agree, the old Cabelas was a great company to do business with. I loved going to the Hamburg store. I’m thinking it might not be worth the drive anymore.

surly their sending you a return pre-paid label. even then i wouldn't sent anything back till what i ordered was at my house. also if your reel is coming fed-ex once you get the tracking number you can call them and they will pick it up when they drop of the other. ive done that a time or two.

I did get a prepaid label .
I may give that a try . Thanks .
I just hate that it’s going to be another four or five days more before I get my new reel .
Not that I “needed” another one .
But it looks like the Legalis LT @ 6.5 ounces is going to be a good ultralight reel with a larger diameter spool than the 500’s .
I’ll probably partially fill mine with SOS 2# and finish filling it with 2# P-line . The SOS 2# is the same diameter as 4# P-line .
