I have found that the Plasti-dip works well ... but leftovers in the can dry out and become useable for future projects ... this is simply because used product now creates an air pocket above the product that encourages solidifying of the remaining product ...
Placing some type of “floating lid” on the product (down inside the can) will create a barrier between the product and the air in the can - prolonging the life of the leftover product ...
Also ... denatured alcohol can thin Plastic-dip if the product becomes too thick ...

Rubberized powder is the most durable way to go. Kind of hard to get in smaller quantities though.
