fish are at their best here locally , it is quite possible to get it handed to you in these parts right now .
many spots they are there and just looking like statues on the electronics and other spots I know they are there and just won't budge for some odd reason .
why and what and etc etc etc you ask , my vote is a "bite window" as is my term for it .
in the winter it occurs here rather often and if you are there when the window is open you are as good as it gets , if you show up when the window is closed you are about to get humbled .
such is the case here lately , daytime is often really tough and the windows are often open in the very low light times of the day ,so being lazy like me adds a touch of it aint gunna happen today to it as well ......
hit 2 spots yesterday and not even a think I got a bite at those 2 spots , one was real deep the other real shallow , 12 to 1 ....
hit a third spot between 2 and 3 and apparently someone left the window open .....
the fish were not large but they were quite cooperative . here is the part that was difficult for me to wrap my head around.
they were only biting in the upper 3 foot of water column in about 12 foot of water ! have no idea why winter fish were up so high at that time of the day and never saw a sign of a baitfish .
was very interesting to say the least and even got to see one "flash" at my jig at one point . so here is the point of this particular post .
be willing to present your bait in a fashion that is very unlikely to get bit just to make sure you are not missing out . without the help of electronics you need to try the entire water column . i imagine if a person side imaged that area the water column in the upper half was probably loaded up with fish .
even managed to ketch 2 bluegill up high in the water with the crappie , go figure
KABOOM is the word ....
p.s. 50 / 50 on takes , some just laid it up and some hit it like a hammer . only used a chart light weight bait and white heavy weight bait . both baits were about equal in bites .
