    Default Almost got skunked !

thank goodness the water gods were smiling on me
    I got turtled instead .....
my bud said how come you never go down to the river anymore ?
i said because 2 years ago the river QUIT in most places i hit .
the big flood a few years back and then all the repairs left all my spots VOID of crappie .
where we would often hammer and ketch big numbers and even big fish ....
now nothing , you might be lucky enough to get bream bites some days
well he kept after me about it and i said what the heck why not ....
below are a couple of images of why not .....
winter turtles are hitting chart jigs though if you are interested in ,,,,,
getting turtled for a change of pace

Awesome Ketchn, tell me how do you knock the scales off that. More important question, you mention flood waters and reduced or no crappie catch now. We have had numerous tropical storms and the wettest year on record. Our river catch has been reduced by 50% or more since the last 5-6 years of excessive, repeated, flooding of the Pearl River. You think a mortality rate increase with the flooding or relocation?

the jury is out my friend , can't decide where they went , but in almost all the branches of the mighty trinity river the crappie are gone .
dont think it is mortality related , more likely changes in the cover and the baitfish agenda and that sort of thing ?
i thought for the longest that it was a relocation thing , but where is the million dollar question .

Hey Ketch. Just asking, but is it hard to get the bait out of its mouth a and return it healthy? (Not snappers! They’re on their own!)

Turtle soup is great but that sized turtle might just make a cup-o-soup. Just sayin.......
