Another nice thing about braid to save money. It doesn’t have memory. After a LOT of use and it gets sort of threadbare looking, just pull it all off and then tie the opposite end on the reel and wind it on. The end that was tied to the spool is brand new and unused and no coils like mono would have.
I have had braid get to short to fill the spool up to the proper level, but I have never had braid go bad. Once the braid has been swapped end for end. The next time it needs refreshed. Cut off about 40 feet, add some backing line to the spool, attach braid and respool. Good as new.
I’ve been using braid for a good while. All domestic brands, and I use tiny jigs like Alphahawk uses. Sufix nanobraid 2lb is a strong contender, as is Fireline. I use a line that I both love and hate and not many folks still use it, and that’s Nanofil. It has no abrasion resistance, crappie teeth will cause it to part. In 2 lb I have found nothing as limp or that casts like it does. My strongest advice is to only buy 1 spool of any line until you see if it works for the way you fish. I use about a four foot leader of four pound clear mono and have little issue with a double uni knot to join them. Have fun and keep us posted.
And as I've said many times before : if you're going to use braid ....
get yourself a short piece of 1.5" dowel rod - to wrap the braid around to pull lures free
get yourself a pair of Childs Size Fiskar Scissors - to cut the braid "blunt" (or larger if you have "fat fingers" :) )
Braid wrapped around your hand/fingers will cut you (period - full stop) !! It will also cut thru cork/foam rod handles.
The Fiskar Scissors cut the braid blunt, which makes it easier to put the tag end thru lure eyelets. They're cheap @ a couple of $$ and small & don't take up much room in your tacklebox/bag.
Pair of mini diagonal cutting pliers (5”) I found cut braid best for me. Have tried all types of scissors but wire cutters snip it clean like it’s nothing.

These cut braid clean and you don't have to pull the line tight to get a good cut,get them at Walmart for cheap .
Robot or human?
I have a pair of braid scissors from Bass Pro that I have had a few years. A real sharp knife will cut it pretty blunt. It certainly threads better when it is wet
I like the idea of using fiscars. I need a new trimming tool for my wading pack and these sound perfect.

The blue scissors pictured and others have cerrated (sp)edges and the line doesn’t slide away from being cut. Mine work better than anything else.
Been using Boomerang snips to cut braid for years.
