On Wheeler Lake in North Alabama. Most structure holding fish in 15 fow of water are starting to feed. Fish are holding in the deeper 1/3 of their column Still mainly just 7-8 inch fish but their thump is starting to come back.

3 out of 4 , lakes in the last 3 days had a bite so light it defies imagination , everyone says "they are not biting " , that is not the case !
they have been large and in charge and in numbers and all I can tell you is thank goodness for sensitive tackle and small jigs !
lake 4 fish were more aggressive and on their northern journey to go up the river .
we will not likely drop a jig in lake 5 today , we are supposed to go tubing in Ed's new tube puller .....

Has anybody ever known Ketchn to be on a lake and not drop a jig into the water? Yesterday was no exception, once the tubing ended the dropping and ketchning started.

Bait is in abundance on the lakes I've been fishing and one of the reasons we're having to work so hard for a good box of fish.....
Good thing is my recent few trips the fish have been thumping aggressive and you know that's always good.....
One thing I'll say is they definitely prefer some colors over others and size must be small...... Several missed and light hits on the wrong color/size bait for me......

Yes today was tough. Worked hard just to not get skunked. I think the bite was starting to improve in the afternoon but I was ready to go. Like you said bait was everywhere, an all you can eat buffet.
