I would say my Pappy was my number one.
teaching me how to ketch fish with just my bare hands at about 4 years old was really neat .
some 60 years later I still show kids how to do it to this day
so who is your number one ?
relative or not lets hear the list of number ones

Hard choices for sure, both of my parents loved to fish as did 1 grandpa and 1 grandma. But definitely caught more fish with my dad. In the 60's we ran a lot of trot line and bank lines, then spent hours cleaning fish. Would pay a lot of money to go fishing with my dad 1 more time.

It would have to be my dad too.
The old coot is 89 this year.
He can’t go alone anymore but I take him when I can.
Growing up we ate a lot of fish. Never bought fish once. Never bought bait.
Dug our own worms or scooped crawfish and minners. He preferred to use artificial most of the time.

That would have to be my Grandfather, who got me started Crappie fishing.



Most of the time we used minnows, sometimes netting Shad or Silversides, and occasionally casting Doll Fly jigs. Also taught me how to find Horseweed Worms (Common Stalk Borer) to fish for Bluegill & other Sunfish, & catch Nightcrawlers at night.

Gosh there’s so many. My granddaddy took me fishing my whole childhood when no one else was going. He never fished,just took me. My other granddaddy was a big fisherman. All my uncles were big fisherman that I grew up fishing with. But I’ll have to say #1 was also the man who was the biggest influence and mentor on everything in my life. Taught me his trade,which he was the best at and I’m still trying to be as good as him to this day. Tried to teach me how to be a good man,which I’m still trying although I know I’ll never be half the man he was. And was my best friend and always my favorite fishing and hunting partner. He hadn’t fished in years but I talked him into going with me a few years ago. Just like when I was a kid it was a lesson. We talked about life,work and just whatever came up. He gave advice on my relationship. Just a great memory I’m thankful for. And yes,he schooled me with his antique zebco 33. Sorry for the long rambling post,but my gosh how I miss him. And likegrumpa would give anything for one more trip. A couple weeks later he started going down and was never able to go again. Of course I’m talking about my dad.

My Dad definitely gave me the passion for it. He was more of a seasonal fisherman
