Questions about black nose, hybrid or magnolia crappie
I have a family member in Kentucky with a two acre lake he stocked with crappie, bass, catfish, and hybrid bluegill thirteen (13) years ago. On a whim, Saturday I drove over to their lake and used a crappie jig. Next three hours I caught 18 slabs with a very consistent weight of 14-15.5 oz. After the second crappie, I knew there was something special about these fish because of the black line from the fin to the mouth. Never seen anything like this but I'm also sorta new to fishing.
Is it possible these are the original crappie that were introduced 13 yrs ago?
Will these crappie reproduce? Hate to start taking these out of their lake if there's no chance of them coming back cause they're not really mine!
Last, I know this isn't a fair question but how many crappie can I estimate in this 2 acre lake? A few, pretty good amount, or loaded. lol
I tried to do some research on the Internet on these crappie with a black stripe but it appears there are several different strains. Hey, I realize we might never know the exact answers but it might be good for discussion.
thanks in advance
