Welcome to the forum. There are tons of rods out there. What is your budget? Any ideas on length your wife would be interested in? Type of water you fish? Any info helps.

    HI Bob

as for length, i am not too sure, but i can say she has a daiwa rod now 5 1/2 ft med action with 4 lb mono line and she cannot get a 1 /32 oz lure 15 feet from the boat, so that is why i mentioned the rod that richard gene likes it is a 6ft eagle claw. i was looking att he TCB rod gets excellent reviews, but its pricy.

It might not be the rod. The reel or line could also be the problem, or a combination of all three.

Any decent outfit should cast 1/32 oz at least 50 feet.

    I just noticed this:

I have a 5'6" medium action St. Croix, and I would never use it for 1/32 jigs. A light or UL rod will load up much better with a 1/32 oz jig.

Any of the rods that have been suggested will work better for her.

    Bass Pro Microlite
    Leland’s TCB

Those are two good ones, but there’s at least a hundred more that would also work just fine.

There are a lot of fans of the Micro Lite here on the forum. I can speak to the Leland TCB rod. I have the very slightly different TSS version and it is a very nice, sensitive rod for the money. Might be worth spending a few extra bucks. 1/32 with bait will go mighty far.

Just so there's no confusion, the Bass Pro Microlite is not the same as the Shakespeare Micro Series. Either rod will work in this situation, but I think the Bass Pro is a much better rod.

Work 'em in and cut 'em down
