No good deed goes unpunished

Yesterday a little girl and her mom were fishing from shore at the boat launch and I felt sorry for her because her dad (who fishes bass tournament locally) only gave her a topwater bass lure (Tiny Torpedo). So, being the good samaritan when it comes to kids, I decided to give the 10 yo a lesson as to what to use and how to use it which both mother and young newbie angler greatly appreciated.

Why her father never gave her small jigs and soft plastics to fish is beyond me. I rigged a small jig and one of my best lures on her line and showed her the proper retrieve for this lake. Too bad her rod/reel combo were crap from Amazon - drag didn't work, but as least casting distance was decent and she had a much greater chance of catching most species if she moved around the shore.

Got home, parked, left everything (I thought) in the truck and figured to replace or add to my three boxes (jigs / proven lures/ new designs). This morning all three were gone ! There's no way they were taken at the launch because a man and his daughter were launching a kayak while I was showing the girl. I live on private property and for the life of me can't believe anyone would rip me off there in the middle of the night. I'm sure the boxes were in the proper place last time I looked so if any fell out of the truck I would have noticed.

Oh well, back to filling new boxes and good thing I've posted and saved (on PC) many pictures of basic tackle and new designs so that I can start again. Guess locking the truck will be necessary from here on in, whether showing someone how to fish with my attention diverted or at home. I read somewhere someone also recently had that same thing happen - theft of tackle. Sad that anyone would stoop so low, but as they say **it happens. At least I'll be better organized this time and not carry so much stuff !
