Where I'm at in Minnesota,a three hour drive North and your at the southern edge of lake of the woods, a pinch farther Manitoba Canada. If I drive south east one hour I'm in the prairie pot hole lakes of South Dakota, two and half hours west Devils Lake North Dakota and 45 minutes east I'm in lakes country in Minn....Our license plates say land of 10,000 lakes, I believe I'll stay put.
I'm done movin' after being the dependent of a lifer military dad and a tour of service myself. When it comes to fishing: I am 10 minutes away from Jordan and Shearon Harris Lakes and 5 minutes from the Cape Fear River right here in Central North Carolina.
I do intend to visit other lakes in state and out of state. No, I'm good right here.
I'd probably go back to Louisiana the atchafalaya basin. Fish were always biting somewhere.
I have lived in a few places and traveled all 48. I also have to say that my funds are limited so it’s not a simple thing to pick up and move. Born and raised in the Northeast and camped all over up there, and it has its good points and some beautiful places for outdoor folks like us. But the body count is too high up there and I like some open space. I also lived in Lawton, OK. While it has open spaces there I learned that I need green surroundings, and came back to Florida. Then my wife entered the picture. The majority of our time together has been in FL, but in ‘05 I convinced her that it was time we moved to Tennessee. Stayed til 15 when we moved back to be closer to our oldest daughter and three granddaughters, and we have questioned our sanity in that decision every day since. Those were the best ten years of both of our lives and we miss it greatly. I can go on for a very long time on its attributes, but suffice to say that if there was ever a windfall of large money at my house, Florida would be seen in the rear view mirror. We love our daughter and the family here, we also like our house and the warmer weather. But friends, my heart is in Tennessee. I’ve driven over 2 1/2 million miles across this wonderful country of ours and there’s nowhere better. It’s also closer to the best pheasant hunting in the Dakotas, yet another plus.
If it is only based on Crappie and nothing else, Mississippi. If Crappie were just one of many considerations, but an important one, I'd probably say Arkansas.
Florida, good fishing, warm weather and grandchildren.

Truman reservoir, MO
Probably upstate South Carolina, so I could easily get back to N.C. and be closer to Santee Cooper. Turkey hunting's good too.
