You'll definitely "feel" the difference! And if you ever try a rig with mono after a season with braid, you'll wonder how you could have ever fished with a rubber band! LOL! I'd recommend a 4' fluoro leader ahead of your main line. You need some stretch and the fluoro not only gives you that, but much better abrasion resistance as well. Win-Win in my opinion. I have used braid for years with a palomar knot and never had a problem. If you are looking for an alternative for braid or mono check Sufix Adavance Mono. Its a copolymer with Low stretch , good knot strength and reasonable price.

I’ve been testing some braid lately and will be switching my favorite pole back to mono.
I single pole jig fish 90% of the time in and around cover. (12 ft Berkeley jig pole )
The braid tangles much easier in
Several ways ( Suffix hi vis 15lb)
1) from wind on my rod tip
2) while actively fishing
3) if you tangle in bushes it takes longer to get it out. It’s just too soft.
On a good note , it will slid thru my pole eyes better than the mono I use. So it pitches smoother.

Maybe for jigging with a 12ft pole a stiffer mono might be better,but it you want distance, strength and sensitivity braid is the only way to go.Quote:
