The lakes I fish here in SW Missouri all have a 10" minimum length limit, and that really helps. There's not much meat on a crappie that's under 10" anyway, but a 10+ incher has some decent filets. I know the 10" minimum really helps the fishery because the average fish we catch are from 11" to 13", and a few bigger. We only have to put back about 1 out of five crappie we catch, and they tend to be 9 7/8" and won't get released by the next guy.
