Hi tech holders

Ok I am looking at getting into spider rigging. I have been looking at Millennium Holder and the Hi Tech my question is what is the difference between the Extreme series and the Elite series on the high tech I cant really figure it out also ( and I can prob just call them) do they come with the base plate that you can easily remove or maybe thats the difference between the two. And Im open to other options if someone has a better ideal I looked at a drift master today at Academy but it didn't look like you had much adjustment for the angle

When you look at them the Extreme has a deeper V on front where rod handle rests. Keeps rod from jumping out as easy. Yes when you order the set each one will come with a base plate. Holder just slides in and has a bolt you tighten to lock in place.
If you want adjustability the Millennium is only way to go. Infinite adjustment and when locked down they will not move. A lot easier to adjust. Have both on my boat.

I switched from the driftmaster to millennium. As mentioned above, can be locked down.
Mores sturdy and I can see bites better. Very happy with the switch.

I've tried just about all of them all over the years and in my opinion Hi Tech is the way to go. It looks like the only adjustment Millennium has that Hi Tech don't is height adjustment. But you can get them in several different heights. Plus Scott will make them for you in just about any height you want. I needed something special for when a 3rd person fished with us. Gave Scott the dimensions and he made them for me. I've since adapted them to use in several different boats over the years. What I like best about Hi Tech's is the low profile. Less arms sticking up for your line to get caught on.

The difference between the elite and extreme is the sides of the holder. The extreme has taller, straight up sides where the elites are on an angle. I troll with my rods 90* out the side of my boat and have yet to have a rod get pulled out of the holder. The elite will allow them to twist. I’ve had both and never lost a rod out of either but find the extreme to be more secure. All adjustments are done with a half inch wrench so I keep a box end in the boat. The millennium have knobs for some or all of the adjustments. I bought knobs for some of my hi teks a few years back and took them off. I found that given the chance the knobs got in the way and line got wrapped around them, which never happens with the bolts. I’ve used about every type holder made and between the quality of the product and the customer service, I’ll never use any others.

I’ve had HiTecs in my last three boats and I’ve always been happy with them. I like their adjustability, their simple design and it’s very easy to quickly grab a rod out of the holder when the fish hits. I had 2 or 3 other brands before I tried them and these are my favorite ones.
The Millennium rod holders are popular with a lot of guys on here and they look like they’re well built.

I have the spider loks and love them. I have a set of 2 and 4 rod holders. I put bases on the bow which I use for spider rigging and on the stern which I use for trolling cranks. I also use them for fishing cats in the Mo and MS rivers while anchored and drifting. They are solid, very adjustable and have held up well.
