I use a Improved Clinch knot on all the different braids I use ... and if the braid is brand new (or "slick") I leave a long tag and tie a double overhand knot in the tag & cinch down the Improved Clinch until that overhand knot snugs up to it. So far I haven't had the braid knots to come unraveled.Quote:

In my opinion a crappie can’t put anywhere close to enough force to hurt 99% of new guides. When I build a customer a crappie rod with guides or a blank I’ve never use first I build me one for testing then slap a 4000 size spinning reel on it with 8 pound or now 5 pound original 4 strand power pro braid. Put it in the bay boat and run out to the Galveston jetty and hammer on 8 to 15 pound red fish. Hooking that on a UL feels like you just hooked the mail mans wagon. They could probably burn enough braid to damage a guide on that set up with me slowly putting as much heat on the fish trying to find what’s going to break first. And I’ve honestly haven’t seen a guide damaged. Any time you tap a jig head to your tip now that I’ve seen countless time damage a tip. That’s why I tell my crappie guys to stay away from high end torzite guides.
