After looking for two years for an good option for a boat to fit my larger frame. 6'2" long in the legs, I stumbled on a good option. I thought I was destined for a bay layout to meet my needs. Visiting many marinas, countless. Hrs on Craigslist and trips out with other members landed me at Wedowee marina one afternoon looking at Nautic star bays. They put one in the water for me to try out and I came back to the marina not feeling good about the boat. I had overheard him telling a customer about a 06 ranger 520 he had for sale, so I ask to sit in it. Wow what a disappointment. Beautiful boat with no leg room. I told him I would have to let my left leg hang out between consoles and remove hot foot to even consider it. As he scratched his head he told me he had a 13 520 Comanche twenty minutes away in cleanup that was just traded in. By his friend. So off I go to the other site.
Upon arrival the boat stood out , what a site to behold . Of coarse they had just steam cleaned carper so no shoes...... Not thinking, being I was excited about boat I kicked the shoes off and climbed aboard. The steps built into trailer made it so easy to climb aboard I almost didn't notice my socks were soaked from the wet carpet. So I measured the deck across and got my jeans wet to boot.lol. So here goes the ultimate test. Let's set down and stretch the legs behind console. Awe man legs were straight out no bend in knees , could this be the boat I was searching for??? One more test. Could I easily get out of seat to stand up. As I rose I realized the seats were much higher than the other boats I had set in.
After 12 hrs of seat time since I bought it I can say the ranger 520 Comanche will accommodate a larger fellow.
