Need to see some spiderrig setups.

It's a motor guide. No adjustment that I've found. My next one will be a Minn Kota, variable speed.
If you plan on rigging, a 24 volt would be beneficial. Longer run time. Assuming you have the room for the extra battery.
Foot controlled will free up your hands. A recessed tray helps also.
Yes, a variable speed motor would be great. Look on the classified section, or Craigslist. Usually some decent ones on their.

It will work fine. You just have e to mount rod holder where the 2 don't interfere with each other. Lots of folks around here use them and I ran one on my old boat for years.

Do you happen to have a pic of the modified one for the straight seat pole? That is what I have on my boat and I got to get some shade in front and back for when the wife and I am fishing in this texas heat. Thanks a bunch for all the info.

This setup has been modified since this picture was taken. You will notice that the seat pole is an offset pole, and the PVC T allows the whole setup to wobble side to side a bit. It also does that when I'm using a regular straight pole, but I've modified it with a reducer and a section of PVC pipe that goes around the straight seat pole .... so no more wiggle room. My buddy is fixing up a mod for the offset pole, using clamps & threaded rods, but I haven't gotten around to getting my offset pole over to him for measurements. I prefer using the offset seat pole, as it's more comfortable and doesn't crowd my knees so close to the rod holders.

I'm using 1.5" PVC pipe, and the straight seat pole is about 1 3/8" ... and that little bit of "wiggle room" allows the umbrella to sway several inches left/right of center. The added length of pipe (~ 7" long) and the reducer cap (1.5" wide) fits snugly against the seat pole, and doesn't allow any "wiggle room".

This is the section that the straight seat post goes into. All I did was add a short piece of PVC and put a reducer cap on it. That sturdy's up the whole setup, rather than having just the "T" going over the seat post.
