rules are typically not made to be broken , sounds you and your son are 2 of the very lucky ones , it for sure could have been worse , lots of boating accidents every year don't end up with story that anyone wants to hear about . Glad you just got wet and only lost a phone .

God was there for sure! Life jacket, kill switch, lower that seat and slow down. I was at the launch ramp a few years ago and saw 2 men leave the area in a jon boat with a 20hp on it. A barge was passing by at the same time. They had no life jackets, no kill switch and to much speed. They both went in the water. I launched as fast as I could and was able to save the 1st man I came to, but the other man drown before I could get to him. Their boat was circling wide open, the barge waves were very rough. I was by myself so boat control was tough. I did what I could as fast as I could and it wasn't enough. They dragged the river and found his body late that afternoon and his neck was broken. The man I saved went into shock. I live with that everyday. Those 2 men meant no harm to anyone, but they disrupted the lives and families of many. And it all could have been avoided with a life jacket and a kill switch!
