Look around at all options. Southern Pros are good rods. I went with B&M rods and have a set of PST and the Capps and Coleman rods. Mine are all 16' ers, but the C&C rods compare somewhat to the Southern pros mentioned above. The PST's are definitely stiffer/heavier rods. Everyone tend to overanalyze what rods are best, I started with the West Bend glass rods and I don't think they caused me to miss that many(or any) fish. they worked fine. Especially when I was first learning how to spider rig. That first few trips out for me was a test of my patience and self control! If you are just starting, my suggestion is to start with no more than 4 rods, no longer than 12'. There is a lot going on and a lot to manage. It gets a little easier and I have moved to 16' rods, but by myself, I rarely put out more than 6 rods. This technique will test/teach you patience!!! Good Luck!!

I just bought a set of ozarks and love them. lift 2 pound slabs into boat with out netting. however I payed $60 a pole for my 14s.... but i love them

I use the BnM PST. 12 to 16' Best spider rigging rod that I have ever used. I fish with a 1/2 oz. weight most of the time. The BGJP's are good too but the PST's bow less from the weight which gives me better sensitivity seeing the bite. It bows just enough but not too much and the PST's have a really good back bone so when You swing a fish in, just lift straight up and the fish comes straight to you. Rods with lesser back bone, when You swing one in, it will come in 4' to Your side. Lost some fish like that with a lesser rod. you will need to net the fish with a lighter action rod.CF
