As long as the lure is heavy enough - no problem skipping underneath.

After having used Fireline for more than a dozen seasons now, I can vouch for the fact that the "shedding" does not affect the line strength and it is less noticeable in the Crystal version than the original smoke color. When I first started using this line, I went back & forth with the Berkley on this matter. They assured me that it would not affect the performance. According to them, this shedding is merely the surface coating dissipating with use. And, after many, many seasons of hard use, I still some spools with the original line that still catch plenty of fish. JMO! :)
I use Power Pro Super Slick 8 on my two pole rods and casting rods, it's great. I fish up to 25' deep in the winter, I can feel the bites and don't miss many fish. It lasts a long time too.
i use both mono and braid for casting. my favorite mono is plain ole stren 4-6 lbs. braid i use power pro super slick 8 exclusively it casts like a bullet and i can shoot 1/32 oz jigs 30 feet under a dock. i only get it in olive and have fished both lines on the same body of water whether stained or gin clear i can't say ive ever noticed any line shyness in crappie. largemouth bass are different. i do think they can see it. ive never had the opportunity to fish for smallmouth.
I use Power Pro 8-30 as the main line on my trolling rods with a rig leader snapped on.
