Float and Fly rod

I have several different ones, All Pro, float-n-fly 9' bulky and heavy my least favorite rod, St Croix, they have a drift and float model if you want to stay with 8' length, my tournament rod. price is reasonable, my favorite is the G.Loomis mossy back 9-6" just don't get any better...but real pricy and wouldn't use it for crappie I don't think. St Croix avid series look at those too, I have that one in a 8'-6" its real good until your leader is longer than 12' then you need to go to 9'-9'-6". my .02 LB

Not really sure about the float and fly model rods. However, most fly rods definitely make good crappie rods especially for vertical jigging or using floats. The weight of most fly rods is a plus and most of the tips are sensitive enough. Some fly rods however, don't have enough backbone for good hook sets when fishing brush.

Thanks that's good info to know. I'm basically looking to use the float n fly rod in spring/fall for smallmouth, and have it as another crappie rod in the spring/summer. Sounds like it'll work just fine. I was thinking of either a Pflueger President or a Pflueger Arbor reel on it.

Another rod to put on the shopping list now.
