My Dad used to say , Shake the bush to get them move and he caught his fair share .. And I do it when they quit bitting?? Don't know Why????? but it works

I think it does in shallow water less 10 ft as it will churn the bottom. I personally use a wind sock. I have used a chain on trout rivers but the current clears up the area dragged quickly.
