My son and I fished Toledo Bend this week. Put about 30 in the boat 2 days in a row. Fish are on docks in the lanan area.
Shiners and jigs. Numbers are good but size is mixed. However they all eat good. Bigger ones will be moving in soon. This past Sunday and Monday.

I've never been to Toledo, but it's on my bucket list

Ann and I were there as well last week, Fall break at the university we're at teaching. Excellent weather it was, but water level low - close to 5 feet below pool, so had to be extremely careful moving around in my usual spots and launching. Saw two boats tear off a lower unit at the campground we were at - running wide open in the boat lanes. I've seen it much lower. Be careful out there.
Caught enough for us and called it good. Not out to load the boat. Shiners on a slip float, 18" deep against wood.
Good to get away. Ann has gone through skin cancer removal of half her nose, rebuilding it now. After 6 surgery's myself in the past 3 years, I'm good. No prayers requested. After 5 years here, put MIL in assisted care 2 months ago after living with us 5 years. Folks don't know about being a caregiver until being one. Enough of that.
Toledo Bend is a fine fishery where we always enjoy it, and catch! Back again during Christmas break and Spring break Easter weekend.

Man, I feel your pain here. I've been taking care of my mother for the past 2 years and it's wearing on me. I've heard horror stories about people that are still mobile and some of the problems they cause their care givers, so at least I don't have that to worry about.
Glad you got out and enjoyed some time together.
