    Default 5/28 Bayou Black trip

Made the 160 mile round trip to Bayou Black Saturday. Started off slow but ended up with a nice box of fish. Kept 28 sacs, 11 perch, 4 catfish and 3 bass. Shad colored Bobby Garland baby shad 2' under cork. Find hydrilla where the water is moving.

That's a long drive, I'm glad you ended up with a nice box of fish. It's been a while since I've been there it seems each time I go the fish don't bite. I guess I'll have to try harder. Did you catch them along the banks or out in the middle of the canals.

Paw, at this point the hydrilla and pads extend 10-15' from the banks. I try to find a short canal/pocket that opens into the marsh with moving water.

Water moving out the marsh into a muddier canal can be super good at times. Also small openings in the pads can be good by dropping a jig down into it. If my back is better by the week end I might try to go.

Nice catch. The last time I was over there everything I used to fish was gated off.

Yeah, sad but true. Still plenty water there to fish.
