Went to Bayou Louie Wednesday. At the ramp I had a hard time getting the big motor to start Battery was low. Didn’t want to chance getting stuck on the lake so I just fished around the ramp. Caught two and left.
At home I charged the batteries, but the cranking battery didn’t seem to take a charge well. Went back to Louie yesterday, but stopped at Sharp’s in Clayton and got a new battery. Of course the old one worked fine this time. It’s time to change it anyway.
No bites at first couple spots and strong east wind. Not good. Fow point with wind blowing across it and started catching a few. Boat handling was a chore but I only got my line in the trolling motor once. At least this time it didn’t break my rod tip. After a couple hours the bite slowed, so I moved to a bank with the wind blowing parallel to it. Caught a few, but they were bigger. Then went exploring and found a new spot with some better fish.
It is satisfying when you adapt to conditions and catch them!
