    Default Crappies near Lake Charles

    Hey guys,

I just moved to Lake Charles, LA and am inquiring to see if anyone has any experience crappie fishing the area. I have lived all over the Midwest and most recently in Florida. I’ve crappie fished my whole life and would like to find some spots within an hour of Lake Charles. I am a die hard bank fishermen, rarely use a boat. Any help is appreciated - don’t need your honey holes, just some areas that bank fishing is available!

I’ve been viewing this forum since I was a teenager-finally decided to take the leap and make an account. This is a great community of fishermen and I look forward to engaging in conversations in the future!

You can fish bundicks which is about an hour away from Lake Charles. You can bank fish below the spillway and at times people do good there. Lacassine opens March 15 and has a whole levee that is dedicated to bank fishing and it is 30 - 45 minutes from lake Charles. Can't think of any other areas that have decent bank fishing right now.

They catch some white perch in the spring off the side of the road in Cameron Prairie . Just north of the Gibbstown bridge
