Suggestions??
I have just recently gotten back into fishing. Specifically kayak fishing with my 12 year old son. We have been doing a good bit of inshore marsh fishing and are really enjoying it.
I’m wanting to take him on a camping/kayak fishing trip over the summer while school is out for crappie, bass, bream etc....I live north of New Orleans. Willing to drive 4,5,6 hours. I haven’t fished for crappie in a lot of years. Looking for suggestions on a place that we could camp/fish out of a kayak.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Chicot State Park, Ville Platte. Excellent for kayaking. Lots of wildlife. Crappie will be tough to catch in June, but bream should be plentiful. Excellent camping spots also. I would concentrate on the North end of the lake. There are camping spots and launch on the North end.

Awesome! Thanks.
I assume if we could make it up for a weekend crappie fishing in that same lake will be much better now through Spring?

Percy Quinn state park is near McComb, Ms and it’s a good little state park and Lake Lincoln State Park is a bit north of there.
Both close to New Orleans.
Chicot is a great state park, bayou Segnette is a great kayaking spot and it is a hop skip jump for you near New Orleans.

Palmetto Park south of Abbeville has some ponds that are paddle boat only. I only fish it when it's cold and before the spawn mostly. They have 4 primative camp sites on the water and tons of slab/rv type spots. Would recommend cooler times like Mardigra break as apposed to summer. Catching good these days.
