I read that article and I can remember as a boy living in Orleans Parish that it would be great having a freshwater lake on our side of the state like Toledo Bend. If I remember corectly the power plant at the dam was suspose to supply electricity for the Disneyworld, that never happened eather.

A lot of negative impacts on us folks further south for some waterfront property in MS.
The mighty Pearl and Lake Ponchartrain will not be the same.

Low water and decreased flow causes lots of problems.

i fish the pearl further north and ross barnett in jackson, ms a lot. i dont want to see em do this ether. first of all i think its probably more about making rich real estate brokers richer and not do much at all for flood control. they built ross barnett for the purpose of flood control, but a few years back some of the property owners got mad when they would pull the lake down in prep. for winter rains. their boat docks and lifts or boat houses would be too shallow to use so they filed suit against whoever it is in charge of that and got the minimum pool level increased. they actually been talking about this project since that big flood that effected most of the city of jackson in i think it was 1975.
