I had to go to Sibley on Monday morning to meet a man who had some blankets and money for our mission trip to New Mexico next week. I figured since I had to go in the truck, I may as well pull the boat and go on down the road to the Port-O-Bistineau and see if I could coax a few crappie into my icechest.

I started fishing around 8:00 AM and fished until 1:30 PM. I kept 14 very nice crappie. I threw back only 1 crappie, 1 bar fish, and 1 goo. Sorry, Mr. Gene, I don't know what I was thinking. Fish were caught on shiners and jigs, about the same on each. No particular color jig or shiner caught any better than another. Fish were caught in 14-16 feet of water, fishing 2-3 feet off of bottom.

The lake is low, which makes launching a little exasperating, but the size of the fish I caught made the hassle worth the while. I had only one fish weigh less than a pound. Only 3 of the fish were females, which surprised me.

Leaving for New Mexico mission trip on Saturday, about 4:00 AM. Going fishing for lost souls on the Navajo reservation. Don't know when I will get to fish for fish again.
