Saw on national news tonight that the Cajun Flotilla was in Houston and surrounding areas in force. They said a lot of
Louisiana folks with boats were over there helping out. Can't hold the Cajun Navy down. Good people.

Another 3.19 inches of rain forecast tonight, than another 2.55 inches forecast tomorrow. More to follow. River will break flood stage. Flood water on the edge of the low spot of the driveway at a river height or 18'. Ann is staying home the rest of the week. I'll be going back and forth to school. Classes canceled this afternoon, and along with the Labor Day holiday next Monday, puts my students behind. Them, as well as me, will be putting in overtime to stay on schedule.

I know some say this is a "fishing site", but this thread is to discuss topics outside of who caught fish, where, and what on. Just as the previous shoot the bull thread.

Yes I know this should probably be on the off topic but I did make a post in there but I also realize not everyone goes to that site and was just wanting to let people know I was ok. University closed today, we're getting hammered.

We just had some very heavy rain come through which has the streets flooded as high as I've ever seen it here. According to the radar the worst is over for now as only spotty showers south of us. I see that Dwayne is about to get a band of rain move through his area south of Lake Charles. Hang tight and pray for those who are in dire straights with the rising water.

Just had a house generator installed LAST WEEK!. Got a little peace of mind. Where exactly do you live, Shadow? I know its around Lake Charles, but not sure where. Praying for you and your family.

Dapet, first off thanks for the prayers. We live in Big Lake, 17.5 miles from the mouth of the Gulf of Mexico, but we live on a high ridge and didn't flood for Rita or Ike so not too worried about Harvey but still watching it closely. I did manage to make it in to work today, hopefully I can make it back home this afternoon. I will try to get some pictures of my yard and the neighbors yard either this afternoon or tomorrow. My wife made the comment last night that our yard isn't flooded. How is that generator working for you? So far we haven't lost power so that is a GREAT THING! Thanks again for the prayers and prayers to everyone in the storms path.

fortunately, have not needed it yet. we lose power easily over here for some reason. So , I bit the bullet and got one.
