    Prayer Request Grand Bayou 5-9-17

Set the clock for 4:30. Woke up at 5:45. LOL. Went any way. Got to the lake around 7:30 and was fishing by 7:45. Had my first two fish by 8:00. I fished until about 2:20 and decided I had had enough. I'm beginning to realize that I am not as young as I used to be. LOL. But I had a great day.

Caught 25 and kept 22 of them. The Lord Jesus blessed me with some quality fish today. Jig color didn't seem to matter. I caught fish on my hair jigs and plastic. Colors for hair jigs were pink/olive/pink (my version of electric chicken), red/chartreuse, and pink/purple/chartreuse (my version of popsicle). Plastic colors were blue thunder with fire tail, blue thunder with chartreuse tail, and electric chicken. All of them caught fish, but the electric chicken won by a couple of fish today. The fish were caught about 9-12 feet deep in 18-20 feet of water while I just let the little breeze blow me around.

Jig Rig, I didn't get the Dodson No Name jig out of the box today. The way the others were catching fish, I was afraid to unleash its power. I didn't know if a warden was going to be at the launch.

I have always thought the lake to be a perfect lake to pull a crankbait around in because of the lack of structure to get hung up in. So, I tied on a couple that I had in my box and pulled them around with my trolling motor for about 30 minutes. I hooked 1 bass, 1 big crappie, and another fish I never saw, but I must be doing something wrong; I didn't land any of them. The two that I saw got off of those treble hooks before I could get them to the boat.

I saw that I was not geared up for cranks, so I got my jigs back out. Aah, so much better. I just didn't know what to do with a crankbait. LOL. Silly old man.

Most of the fish were right at 1.5 lbs. and I had four that went between 1 lb 10 oz and 1 lb 12 oz.

We ate a few for supper. Packaged up several care packages for some of our widow ladies. Put a couple bags in the freezer. Thank you God!

Ya'll ready for the pictures? Well, I took a few today!

Nice catch today! If you have something that works for you, no need to jump to another method. From what I hear, cranking can be an expensive adventure anyway. lol When it works though, it really works!
Glad you had a great day Pastor!

Way to go Pastor! Glad to see you got on some good fish. I'm going to give cranking a go when it gets a bit hotter.
