As JR says the conditions were perfect, water on slow fall, blue bird skies and hurricane force winds by mid day.
This was our first river trip this year so it took us a little while to figure them out. Started out drifting in middle of a slough fishing 10ft deep cause that's what the graph said to do.
Wrong....
Caught one dink in about first 30 or 45 minutes. Finally got close enough to a bush that I pitch out at the end of it and wham. Fish on, that was a start but never did get on a good pattern. Caught some on trees, end of tops, in tops, in the open 5 ft deep, in the open 2 ft deep, just little bit of every where. Near wood was where most of our bigger fish came from. Small fish seemed to be more in open water.
Caught on several different jigs but most of mine were on the gold/orange and gold/chartreuse rubber tail.
Kept a good mess for dad's freezer and even picked up some free fish from a man dad worked with at the fire department years ago.
Oh well, back to work for me tomorrow.....
