My son and I fished the PHI company tourney on Henderson and it was far from pretty. We left Houma around 4 AM and arrived at the boat launch around 7 AM. We had to stop off and get shiners after the ones we bought on Friday all up and died, bad omen. We hit the pits first and found fish on the sonar but couldn't get any to bite. I stop fishing for slabs and started chunking for bass. Hung a couple that got off and have a few more pick up the bait but not commit to taking it in. Nothing landed. With 2 hours left to fish we left the pits and ran back to the pilings. As we pulled up the screen lit up with fish 6 foot deep. We lassoed a piling and my son dropped a shiner in and started to grab a second rod when the first one doubled over. Wow, first fish in the first minute, we were on them. Well an hour later we still had only that one fish. Fish all under the boat but no takers. We threw in the towel and went off for a boat ride to check out other spots. Just cruising around looking for fish and could not find any. We called it a day and headed. At the weight in we found out that we weren't the only ones having a tough day. The 1st place sac stringer was but 3 pounds and 5 oz I believe. Our one fish weighed .83 pounds, and largest slab was 1 pound 3 ounces.

It wasn't a total loss as we had a great time, had a nice meal, and walked out with nice door prize. My son's prize was a Black Max reel and reel cover valued around $55, and mine was a Berkley filet knife and a Berkley scale valued about the same.

It would have been more fun catching, but that's fishing for ya.
