    Default The Burns Sunday afternoon

Well I made my first trip to my favorite local marsh Sunday afternoon (It opened up Saturday). The water is shallower than normal and the grass is alot more than it was at this time last year, not enough winter! Well anyway here are a few pictures.
There are tons of these guys out there! My first catch for this year at the burns, of course I threw this one and many others this size back.

My total for the afternoon, 5 bass and 2 chickapens. Biggest bass went a flat 2.0.

These did not even make it to the freezer. Trying something a little healthier, pan fried them this time, still not as good as deep fried but it is growing on me.

Dwyane, we don't fry much either. Maybe once a couple of months. What we like is put the fish in a baking dish, topped with sliced butter, red bell peppers, onions, and Tony's. Cover and bake. We learned this on one of our several trips to Belize where they did that after we caught fish, except they wrapped in foil and dropped on the coals, I which I do as well on occasion.

Randy, my wife said her mawmaw use to do something similar except instead of the bell peppers, she would put sliced almonds. Thanks for reminding me of that, will have to try that with the next batch.
