Unlike most lakes the Crappie go extremely shallow during cold weather, they follow the shad, This year is no exception there have literally been thousands caught less than 3 ft.

The old folks always told me that the white perch are spawning/biting when the dogwoods bloom. I've found that very reliable for many years now.

Got a buddy whose a bank fisherman. Won't fish after it gets to a certain temp consistently..... not water temp, atmospheric temp.
Don't matter if I tell him "the fish are jumping in the boat" and offer him a seat.
    He's seriously afraid of snakes.
When I say, he's mastered the many diff. places he fished from the bank, in those places..... he'll load a freezer for the rest of the year.
Anywho back to topic, when he sees the mayhaw trees blooming, he gets real sad and begins his fishing hibernation shortly after. He's been worse than the ground hog this year
